Alex Hernández serves as Public Information Officer at the Port of South Louisiana in Reserve, LA. Born in Bogotá, Colombia, Alex grew up in Queens, New York and received a BA in psychology from Hofstra University (1993) in Hempstead, New York.

Alex began her career at the Port of South Louisiana in 1998 as Administrative Assistant at PortSL’s Globalplex Intermodal Terminal, where she quickly learned the ins and outs of the port/shipping business. In 2009, she was promoted to Public Information Officer. She met her husband in November 1992. In her free time, Alex likes to travel and enjoys photography. Alex is an animal lover and her interests include podcasts, music, sci-fi/fantasy television shows and movies, and spending time with family and friends.
