Joseph C. Powell serves as Director of Security for Port Pascagoula, where he leads safety, security, environmental, and strategic initiatives that support the port’s continued growth. A Certified Maritime Port Executive, he has led major projects including the development of the port’s Maritime Cybersecurity Program, earning the 2024 American Association of Port Authorities Lighthouse Award for Best Practices in Cybersecurity, as well as the port’s Green Marine certification and long-term strategic planning efforts.

Passionate about workforce development, Joseph works to connect students with maritime career opportunities through programs such as We Work the Waterways, GenSea, and Port Pascagoula’s Maritime Awareness Program. He is excited to serve on the We Work the Waterways Board and help inspire the next generation of maritime professionals by expanding awareness of the rewarding careers that keep our waterways moving.
