This month’s My Teenage Me is Katie Dunn, Assistant Stevedore Manager at ARTCo!

Katie’s career path shows how a background in agriculture and business can open the door to a rewarding career on the waterways. After graduating high school, Katie attended LSU, where she earned a B.S. in Agricultural Business. While in college, she gained valuable industry experience through an internship with CHS before beginning her career with ADM Destrehan as a Management Trainee.

From there, Katie continued building her career with ARTCo, working as a Management Trainee and later as a Stevedoring Operations Supervisor. Today, she serves as an Assistant Stevedore Manager, overseeing and supporting the operations that keep cargo moving efficiently through our nation’s waterways. Along the way, she also continued her education, earning her Master of Business Administration from LSU in 2024.

Katie’s journey is a great example of how a degree in business, agriculture, or another related field can lead to opportunities throughout the maritime industry. Her experience highlights the many career paths available both on and off the water—and how education, hands-on experience, and a willingness to grow can help shape a successful career.
